Flash Fiction: Healing with the Flow

A Story of Energy Transformation

In the heart of a bustling city, hidden amongst the noise and the chaos, there was a small, tranquil studio. Its windows were covered with soft drapes, and the scent of lavender and sage hung in the air. Inside, it was quiet, as if the world outside had paused, allowing the space to breathe and heal. This was where Elara, a gifted healer, worked.

Elara had always known she was different. She’d felt the subtle hum of energy ever since she was a child—how it surged through the earth, swirled through the trees, and pulsed through the people she encountered. As she grew older, Elara learned to sense the flow of energy within herself and others. She could feel the blocks, the stagnant places where energy had become trapped, preventing healing and growth. And with time, she discovered that she had the ability to help guide this energy, helping it to flow freely again.

One evening, as the city’s lights blinked softly in the distance, a woman named Mira stepped into Elara’s studio. Her face was drawn, her posture stiff, as though she was carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. She had heard whispers about Elara’s healing abilities and had come to seek her help, though she wasn’t sure what to expect.

“I don’t know if you can help me,” Mira said, her voice tinged with uncertainty. “I feel… trapped. My body is tired, my mind restless, and I’ve tried everything—doctors, therapy, even meditation—but nothing works. There’s a heaviness that won’t leave.”

Elara smiled gently and motioned for Mira to sit on the mat. “Let’s see what we can find together. Trust in the flow of energy.”

Mira, though skeptical, took a deep breath and settled into the space, her body relaxed but still tense with doubt. Elara closed her eyes and began to center herself, her breath slow and steady. She extended her senses beyond the confines of the room, reaching into the unseen, the space where energy moved in gentle currents, where all things connected.

As Elara reached out, she could feel the flow of energy around Mira. It was slow, almost stagnant, like a river that had been dammed. Elara placed her hands above Mira’s chest, just a few inches from her skin, and began to sense the blockages.

“Mira, do you remember the last time you felt truly at peace?” Elara asked softly.

Mira hesitated, then answered quietly, “I don’t remember. It’s been so long.”

Elara nodded, not with pity but with understanding. “Let’s find that peace again.”

Elara gently placed her hands on Mira’s heart, and for a moment, nothing happened. But then, like the first crack of a thunderstorm, the energy in Mira’s body began to stir. Elara could feel it—a deep, pulsing resistance, trapped beneath layers of fear, stress, and grief. It was as though Mira’s heart had closed off to the world, refusing to let the energy flow freely.

With focused intention, Elara began to guide the energy, directing it with her hands and heart. The flow moved, slowly at first, like the gentle ripple of a stream breaking through a dam. Elara’s touch was soft but firm, like a whisper urging the energy to shift. She spoke in soothing tones, not using words to heal, but to encourage the energy to realign.

As the minutes passed, Mira’s breath grew deeper. Her shoulders, once rigid with tension, began to soften. The heaviness that had settled on her chest began to lift, as though a weight she hadn’t even realized was there was being gently removed. The air between them seemed to hum with a quiet vibrancy.

Mira’s eyes fluttered open. “I feel… something,” she whispered, her voice awash with wonder.

“Good,” Elara replied softly. “The flow is returning.”

For what seemed like hours, Elara continued to work, guiding Mira’s energy, unraveling the knots of fear and sadness that had held her captive for so long. With each passing moment, Mira’s body became lighter, her mind clearer, and her heart more open. The flow of energy within her began to move freely, like a river no longer bound by stone.

Finally, Elara withdrew her hands. She sat back, watching as Mira slowly sat up, blinking as if she had just awakened from a deep sleep.

“How do you feel?” Elara asked gently.

Mira looked around, as if seeing the world for the first time. “I feel… light. Like I can breathe again. The weight is gone.” She paused, her eyes misting with emotion. “I didn’t realize how heavy I had been carrying it.”

Elara smiled. “The flow is always there, Mira. It never leaves. Sometimes, we just need to remember how to reconnect with it.”

Mira stood up, her body moving with an ease she hadn’t felt in years. She could feel the energy flowing freely through her once more, like a vibrant current of life.

“I don’t know how to thank you,” she said, her voice filled with gratitude.

“There’s no need,” Elara replied. “Just remember, the flow is always there, ready to guide you when you need it. Trust it, and trust yourself.”

As Mira left the studio that evening, the city felt different to her. The sounds of traffic, the chatter of people, the pulse of life—it all seemed to carry a new vibrancy. She could feel the flow, not just around her, but within her. She had rediscovered the energy that connected her to the world, and it filled her with a sense of peace and possibility.

Elara stood by the window, watching her leave. She knew that healing was not a destination but a journey—a continual flow of transformation. Each person who came to her was a thread in the larger web of energy, and with each healing, the flow grew stronger, more vibrant.

The energy of the world was always moving, always shifting, and Elara’s gift was to help others remember that they, too, were part of that flow.

And so, the story of healing continued, one transformation at a time, as people rediscovered the power of the flow and the healing that came with it.

Thank-you for reading.

Much Love and Light,

Brenda Marie
