I walked away when night was deep,
From broken thoughts I used to keep.
No farewell song, no backward glance—
Just gave my weary heart a chance.
The weight I bore, I set it down,
No need to drag it through this town.
It taught me much, but not to stay—
So I let go, and found my way.
I left the pain behind that day,
Like winter melts into the May.
It chased me once, with sharpened cries,
But I had stars behind my eyes.
No map, no guide, just one clear mind—
I turned the key. I left the pain behind.
Now silence speaks in softer tones,
And joy grows wild in fields unknown.
What once was mine no longer binds—
I live unchained. I left the pain behind.
Thank-you for reading.
Much Love and Light,
Brenda Marie
