Poem: Own Your Life

Own your life—don’t rent the days,
Or drift through time in borrowed ways.
No one else can walk your line,
Or write your name in fate’s design.

The world will press with heavy hands,
And draw your path in shifting sands.
But you—stand firm, and plant your feet,
Refuse to bow, refuse defeat.

Speak your truth, though voices jeer,
Let courage rise above your fear.
Dreams aren’t meant to sit and wait—
They burn in hearts that dare create.

Don’t chase a life that isn’t yours,
Don’t knock on someone else’s doors.
You hold the key, the map, the flame—
The only one who knows your name.

So claim the hurt, the joy, the strife,
Own the shape of your one life.
Not just to breathe, but to ignite—
To live it bold, and live it right.

Thank-you for reading.

Much Love and Light,

Brenda Marie
