Poem: Forgive Those Who Have Hurt You

Forgive Those Who Have Hurt You

Forgive those who have hurt you, friend,
Not for their peace, but for your own—
Release the weight that will not mend,
The seeds of pain too deeply sown.

Forgive, not to excuse the wrong,
Nor say the wound was ever small,
But so your soul may rise, be strong,
And not be chained to every fall.

The heart grows tired of keeping score,
Of counting cuts and naming blame.
Let go, and carry grief no more—
You are not bound to burn with shame.

Forgive them not because they see,
Or even care what they have done,
But so your spirit may walk free,
Unshackled by a ghost long gone.

You heal not in their hands, but yours—
By choosing light when night still stays,
By stepping through unopened doors
Toward kinder truths and gentler days.

So bless the scar, but not the knife.
Let bitterness release its grip.
Forgiveness is a gift to life—
A balm you give, not a script.

Thank-you for reading.

Much Love and Light,

Brenda Marie
