Poem: Let Go of the Past

Let go of the past—it’s not your home,
It’s just a road you’ve chanced to roam.
A chapter written, ink gone dry,
A whisper fading in the sky.

You’ve carried ghosts too far, too long,
But they were never meant to belong.
They taught, they scarred, they shaped your way—
But you’re not bound to yesterday.

The things you said, the things you missed,
The hands you held, the lips you kissed—
They drift like leaves from autumn trees,
Released at last into the breeze.

You are not what you could not save,
Nor every tear you never gave.
You are the breath that fills you now,
The seed that breaks through hardened ground.

Let memory be a gentle flame,
Not chains that keep you in the same.
Forgive the you who didn’t know,
And bless the pain that helped you grow.

Step forward light, unburdened, free—
The past was roots; now be the tree.
Let go. Let be. Let yourself rise—
The present waits with open skies.

Thank-you for reading.

Much Love and light,

Brenda Marie
