Poem: A Long Journey Back to You

I wandered far through silent lands,
With nothing left but empty hands.
The stars were maps, I couldn’t read,
The nights were long, and hope would bleed.

I crossed the years on aching feet,
Each heartbeat echoing defeat.
Yet something called through wind and flame—
A distant voice that spoke your name.

I braved the cold of bitter truth,
The ghosts of love, the graves of youth.
I chased the dawn through shadowed seas,
And whispered prayers to wayward trees.

The road was rough, the path unclear,
But still your memory drew me near.
Like gravity within my chest,
It pulled me home, it gave me rest.

And when I reached that final bend—
No armies left, no lies to fend—
I saw your light, not bright but true,
And knew I’d found my way to you.

No gold could match, no crown outshine,
This quiet hand once more in mine.
For love endures what time undoes—
And I have come the long way… back to you.

Thank-you for reading.

Many blessings to all.

Much love and light,

Brenda Marie

  1. Wonderful poem Brenda 🌷🤝 This poem is a beautiful and poignant journey of longing, perseverance, and ultimate reunion. The imagery of silent lands, unread stars, and aching feet paints a vivid picture of struggle, while the recurring pull of love—”like gravity within my chest”—guides the speaker home. The ending is tender and triumphant, celebrating love’s enduring power over time and hardship. A touching and heartfelt piece.👍🏻🤝
