Poem: Let Go

I held on tight, with knuckles white,
To dreams I forged in softer light—
But time, it winds through heart and hand,
And teaches what we misunderstand.

A whispered word, a closing door,
A wave that breaks upon the shore,
No matter how we beg or plead,
Some things are not for us to keep.

The seasons change, the rivers bend,
The fiercest loves may find their end.
Yet in the ache, a space is made—
For something new to bloom from fade.

To let go is not to forget,
Nor drown the soul in cold regret.
It’s laying down what weighs too much,
To feel the wind, to breathe, to trust.

I set you free, I free me too,
From what we were, from what we knew.
And though I grieve, I rise, I grow—
For there’s a peace in letting go.

Thank-you for reading.

Much love and Light,

Brenda Marie Fluharty
