Let Go of All That Isn’t You
Let go—
not with anger, not with fire,
but as the tide recedes from the shore,
gentle, inevitable,
leaving only what belongs.
You are not the echo of old wounds,
not the mask you wore to be loved,
not the silence you swallowed
to be safe in a room that never saw you.
Let the names they gave you fall away—
too much, too little,
too strange, too soft.
None of these are yours.
You are the space before the thought.
The stillness beneath the noise.
The breath that arrives before you ask it to.
That is your home.
Peel away the stories
told by those who never listened.
Their fears are not your inheritance.
Their expectations are not your contract.
You were never meant to shrink
to fit a frame too narrow
for your wings.
Let the old pain rise—
not to torment,
but to be seen.
Wounds only fester in the dark.
Bring them into the light,
where grief and grace
can sit side by side
and speak in sacred hush.
You are not broken.
You are breaking open.
The sorrow, the shame,
the longings you buried beneath your ribs—
they are not weights,
they are keys.
Unlock. Unfold.
There is a voice beneath the noise,
beneath the memory and fear,
that says only one thing:
Come back.
Come back to the wild hush of your own soul,
the root of your knowing,
the center that never moved.
All else was the wind.
Let go.
Let go of what never belonged.
Let go of who you were never meant to be.
And see what remains—
not less,
not empty—
but vast,
and true,
and finally,
finally
free.
Thank-you for reading.
Much love and Light,
Brenda Marie Fluharty

I love this! It aligns with a new song I wrote too! I am dropping the song on YouTube (the short today and full release in two days). I’ll send the link.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing it.
This poem is a breathtaking meditation on release, self-discovery, and returning to one’s authentic essence. Its gentle yet powerful imagery—tides receding, wounds brought to light, wings breaking free—guides the reader toward surrender and self-acceptance. The refrain *”Let go”* becomes a mantra, not of loss, but of liberation. The closing lines, *”finally / finally / free,”* resonate like a sigh of homecoming. A luminous, healing piece.🌷🤝
