Poem: Let Go of Shame

Let go of shame, that quiet thief,
That weaves its thread through every grief.
It hides in glances, lingers long,
And turns your truth to whispered wrong.

It is not you—the heavy word,
The harshest tale you ever heard.
It’s just a voice, not carved in stone,
A mask you wore, not skin or bone.

You are not broken, not to blame,
Not bound by fire, nor forged by shame.
Your scars are maps, not marks of sin—
They show the roads you’ve walked within.

So lift your face, release the past,
You are not meant to crawl, but last.
The light still sees you, clear and true—
Let go of shame. Step into you.

Thank-you for reading.

Much love and Light,

Brenda Marie Fluharty

  1. This is a powerful and liberating poem Brenda 🤝 a compassionate anthem for self-forgiveness and healing. The imagery of shame as a “quiet thief” and scars as “maps” is striking, transforming pain into wisdom. The rhythm flows like a gentle but firm reassurance, urging the reader to shed the weight of guilt and reclaim their truth. The closing lines (*”The light still sees you, clear and true— / Let go of shame. Step into you.”*) are especially uplifting, offering a radiant invitation to self-acceptance. A beautiful reminder that we are not defined by our wounds. 🌟
