#Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge No. 19, Nonet, 7/ 1/ 25

I have chosen to write  a double nonet poem in the 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9 syllabic format, reflecting on the state of the world.

 

Tipping Point

Oceans rise with a wounded, boiling grief,
forests burn, giving way to dry bone,
plastic tides choke breath from the shore,
storms rage in silent cities,
truth flickers in the dark,
hope wears a thin thread,
nations divide,
hearts grow
cold.

Wait—
a spark,
one kind word,
seeds in scorched soil,
small hands holding hands,
a march of voices rising,
healing sung through shattered windows,
light spilling back into the broken world.
