I wrote this after finding a dead dog on the side of the road, I ending up burrying the poor thing.

How Could They Hurt Someone Like You
How could they hurt someone like you,
With eyes so kind, and heart so true?
You gave the world your quiet grace,
Still, they turned and walked away.
You spoke in whispers, never screamed,
Held others up while chasing dreams.
You softened storms with just your smile,
And still they broke you, all the while.
You loved with hands that never closed,
Still offered warmth when doors were closed.
And though they left you in the cold,
You stayed, you stayed—so brave, so bold.
What kind of world forgets the light,
That shone so softly through the night?
What kind of hearts could turn so cruel,
And bleed you dry, and call it “cool”?
You are the calm, the steady shore,
The kind of soul worth fighting for.
And if they failed to see your worth,
It’s not your fault—it proves their hurt.
So let them go, and let them lose,
The precious love they did abuse.
For you, my dear, deserve the sun—
Not hands that cut, but ones that come.
Thank-you for reading.
Much Love and Light,
Brenda Marie

This poem is a tender, aching tribute to someone whose kindness was met with cruelty—a soul who loved deeply, endured silently, and was still taken for granted. It captures the injustice of how gentle hearts often suffer the most, yet affirms their unshaken worth. The closing lines shift from sorrow to strength, reminding the wounded that they deserve warmth, not pain. A beautiful blend of heartbreak and hope. Wonderful poem Brenda 🌷🤝
