Poem: Discernment

A whisper in the crowded mind,
Where noise and truth are intertwined—
Discernment stands with quiet grace,
A lantern in a shadowed place.

Not every voice deserves your ear,
Not every path is crystal clear.
But wisdom waits, beneath the din,
To guide the soul that looks within.

It does not shout, it does not sway,
It watches how the choices lay.
It asks, What matters most right now?
Then draws the line with furrowed brow.

It is not doubt, nor is it fear,
But vision sharp and conscience near—
The space between react and see,
Where freedom births from clarity.

So trust not first in loud applause,
Nor run from every hidden flaw.
Discernment does not rush to speak,
But listens long before critique.

For those who seek what’s just, what’s true,
Must learn to sift the old from new—
With heart engaged and mind alert,
To pierce through gold that masks as dirt.

And in that skill, both firm and kind,
Lies peace, and strength, and a steadfast mind.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie

  1. This poem is a luminous meditation on discernment—the quiet yet powerful art of seeing beyond the noise. With its measured rhythm and wise imagery, it champions patience over haste, inner clarity over external clamor. A masterful reminder that true wisdom lies not in reaction, but in the sacred pause where truth reveals itself. Profound and grounding Brenda 🌷🤝
