Guided Meditation: Connecting to Water
Duration: ~10–15 minutes
Suggested Setting: Quiet space; optional background water sounds (ocean, stream, rain)
🌬️ Begin by Settling In
Close your eyes gently.
Allow your body to arrive in this space.
Feel your feet touching the ground, your spine gently upright, your shoulders soft.
Take a long, deep breath in…
and a slow breath out.
Let’s do that again—
Inhale deeply through your nose…
Exhale gently through your mouth.
Begin to soften your body with each breath.
Let your jaw relax. Let your eyes rest. Let your mind begin to quiet.
💧 Connecting to Water
Now, imagine you are standing at the edge of a body of water.
It might be a calm lake, a flowing river, the ocean shore, or even a gentle rain falling around you.
What do you see?
What does the air feel like against your skin?
What sounds do you hear?
Take a moment to notice all the details of this place.
Let the image become more vivid.
🌊 Become the Observer
You walk closer to the water’s edge.
You crouch down, placing your hand into it.
Feel the coolness of the water against your skin.
Its softness. Its clarity. Its life.
Notice how the water moves—effortlessly adapting to its path.
Never resisting. Always flowing.
🌧️ Let the Water Cleanse You
Now, imagine this water has the power to cleanse—not just your body, but your thoughts, your emotions, your energy.
Gently, bring your awareness to any heaviness or tension you’re holding.
Any stress, anxiety, or worry.
Visualize this being washed away—
as if water is flowing through you, around you, and within you.
Each breath in brings in fresh, cool water.
Each breath out carries away anything that no longer serves you.
Breathe in clarity.
Breathe out tension.
Breathe in renewal.
Breathe out resistance.
Let the water clear your inner landscape.
🌫️ Merge with the Water
Now, imagine that you are becoming the water.
You are fluid.
You are free.
You are adaptable.
You can flow around any obstacle.
You can be gentle or powerful.
You can carve through stone, or reflect the sky.
You are the river.
You are the rain.
You are the ocean.
Let yourself feel the calm strength of water moving within you.
Let yourself rest in this flow.
🌿 Return and Ground
Begin to bring your awareness back to the room.
Feel your body—your hands, your feet, your breath.
Wiggle your fingers. Wiggle your toes.
Take one final deep breath in…
And exhale fully.
When you’re ready, gently open your eyes.
💙 Closing Reflection
Water teaches us presence.
It teaches us surrender.
It reminds us of our ability to cleanse, heal, and begin again.
Carry this fluidity with you through the rest of your day.
You are water.
You are flow.
You are enough.
Thank-you for reading.
Remember there are many paths back to God.
Follow your own path,
Brenda Marie
