My Review of How to Become Your Higher Self

My Review of How to Become Your Higher Self

When I first picked up The Lightworker Book by my dear friend Jeanine, I knew it would be special—after all, I know the heart behind the words—but I don’t think I realized just how deeply it would touch me. This isn’t just a book. It’s a companion, a lantern, a love letter for anyone who has ever felt like they were searching for “home” within themselves.

Before I dive into my reflections on the book, I want to say something about Jeanine herself. She’s one of those rare people who carries both gentleness and strength in the same breath. She has a presence that makes you feel instantly safe, like you can exhale and just be yourself in her company. She listens in a way that makes you feel truly seen, and she has this gift of speaking truth without judgment. When Jeanine shares wisdom, it never feels like she’s preaching—it feels like she’s walking beside you, gently pointing out the lanterns on your path. That same warmth and authenticity comes through in every page of her book.

From the very beginning, I felt like Jeanine was speaking directly to me. The opening letter to lightworkers is so tender and encouraging—it felt as if she had already peered into the part of me that sometimes doubts my strength and said, “You’re not lost. You’re just remembering.” Those words alone softened something in me that I hadn’t realized was holding on so tightly.

What I love most about this book is that it doesn’t pretend the journey of becoming your higher self is easy. Jeanine acknowledges the fog, the forgetting, the days when it feels like you’re slipping back into old patterns. She doesn’t sugarcoat the human struggle. But instead of making that struggle feel like failure, she reframes it: forgetting was part of the assignment, the first step we agreed to take before we could truly remember. That perspective alone felt healing for me. It gave me permission to stop criticizing myself for the times I stumble and instead see them as part of the larger spiral of growth.

The structure of the book makes it both practical and soulful. Each chapter weaves together reflections, storytelling, guided meditations, and simple practices. Some of my favorites were the little rituals—lighting a candle at the end of the day, sipping tea with intention, placing a hand on my heart when fear crept in. These aren’t big, complicated steps. They’re small, grounding moments that remind me I don’t need to wait for a perfect future version of myself to arrive—I can live as her now, even in the most ordinary parts of my day.

The guided meditations were another highlight for me. Jeanine has such a gift for creating imagery that feels alive. When she described walking through a forest path, holding a lantern that turned out to be the light in my own heart, I could almost feel the cool air, the ground beneath my feet, the flicker of that lantern within me. Reading those passages wasn’t just an intellectual exercise—it felt like an experience, like being gently led back to myself.

Another part that resonated deeply with me was her description of “identity shifting.” I’ve always felt that tension between who I know I am on the inside and how I sometimes show up in daily life. Jeanine explains this process with so much compassion, reminding us that shifting into our higher self isn’t a one-time leap—it’s a spiral, a practice, a devotion. Every time we choose authenticity over hiding, love over fear, presence over autopilot, we are strengthening that shift. That truth has stayed with me, and I find myself pausing more often to ask, “Which self is leading me right now?”

Jeanine also writes honestly about hard days—the ones filled with grief, fear, or exhaustion. She doesn’t bypass them or pretend they don’t exist. Instead, she offers practices for meeting those days with compassion and connection rather than resistance. That honesty made me trust her words even more. She knows what it’s like to walk through pain, and yet she still chooses light. That makes her guidance feel real, lived, and trustworthy.

By the time I reached the closing letter, I felt something I hadn’t expected—I felt comforted, even held. The book didn’t just inspire me; it met me right where I was. It reminded me that even in the moments when my light feels dim, it’s never gone. It may flicker, but it’s eternal.

If you’ve ever felt that quiet homesickness for something more—if you’ve ever longed to come home to yourself, or felt that gap between who you know you are and how you’re actually living—I can’t recommend The Lightworker Book enough. For me, it wasn’t just a book to read. It became a companion, a mirror, a lantern guiding me back to the truth of who I already am.

And knowing that it came from Jeanine, whose own life reflects everything she writes about, makes it even more special. She’s not just sharing ideas; she’s sharing the very way she lives—with devotion, courage, and love.

This book is for anyone who has ever wondered if there’s more to life than just getting through the day. It’s for those of us who sometimes forget, but who are willing to remember. It’s for you, for me, for all of us who are learning to live as our higher selves, one breath, one ritual, one choice at a time.

A Beautiful Companion: The Higher Self Journal

Along with The Lightworker Book, Jeanine has also created something truly special—The Higher Self Journal. Honestly, it feels like the perfect companion to the book. Where the book inspires, guides, and comforts, the journal gives you space to actually live the practices and reflections in your own daily rhythm.

The journal is designed to help you connect more deeply with your higher self—through prompts, reflections, and gentle invitations to pause. I love that it’s not about “doing it perfectly” but about creating small, sacred moments where you can listen to your inner voice and let your light come through.

When I held the journal in my hands, I was struck by how inviting it feels. The design is bright and warm, almost like it’s whispering, This is your safe place to explore who you really are. Paired with the teachings in The Lightworker Book, the journal makes the journey feel even more tangible.

For me, journaling has always been one of the most powerful ways to process, remember, and reconnect. Having Jeanine’s prompts right there, alongside the wisdom of her book, feels like being gently guided while also giving myself room to discover my own truths.

If you decide to read The Lightworker Book, I can’t recommend getting the Higher Self Journal enough. Together, they’re not just tools—they’re a pathway home to yourself.

  1. Brenda, thank you SO much for reviewing my book!! As you know, your words brought tears to my eyes.It feels like you truly see me and my work. I’m so grateful that I know you!

  2. What a breathtakingly beautiful and deeply felt review. You have such a gift for words, and you’ve captured the very soul of Jeanine’s work—not just analyzing it, but experiencing it, which is the highest form of praise.

Your description of the book as a “companion, a lantern, a love letter” immediately sets the tone and resonates so powerfully. And the way you write about Jeanine herself, her ability to make you feel “safe, like you can exhale,” is a testament not only to her character but to your own capacity for connection and recognition.

I was particularly moved by your reflection on how she reframes the struggle: “forgetting was part of the assignment.” That is such a profound and healing perspective, and you articulated its impact on you with stunning clarity. It’s clear this book wasn’t just read; it was integrated into the fabric of your being.

Thank you for sharing your journey with such vulnerability and light. Your words have not only convinced me of the book’s power but have themselves become a kind of lantern, guiding others toward it. I am genuinely excited to explore “The Lightworker Book” and “The Higher Self Journal” for myself, thanks to you.
