Poem: Don’t Get Lost in the Pain

Don’t Get Lost in the Pain

Don’t get lost in the pain, though it calls like the sea,
With a tide made of silence and memories set free.
It will whisper your name in the darkest of hours,
Try to root in your bones like the stems of dead flowers.

But the light still remembers the shape of your face,
And the winds still recall how you once held your grace.
Yes, the night might be heavy, the path steep and wide,
But there’s fire in your breath, and a storm on your side.

Let the ache pass through you—don’t build it a throne,
Don’t let sorrow convince you you’re always alone.
There’s a voice deep inside that the noise cannot stain:
It’s the part of your soul that survives through the rain.

So cry if you must, but don’t set up your tent
In the heart of despair, where your joy might be spent.
Take your time, take your breath, take your space, take your stand—
But don’t get lost in the pain. Just reach for a hand.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie
