Poem: Alchemy of the Soul

In shadows deep where silence sings,
Beyond the grasp of mortal things,
There brews a fire, slow and bright—
The soul’s own gold from grief and night.

No crucible of iron flame,
But heartache bears the truest name.
Each sorrow ground to stardust fine,
Each wound a step on paths divine.

Desire is lead, so dull and gray,
Yet through the trials we melt away—
Our lesser selves, our grasping hands,
Until the spirit understands.

Transmute the fear, dissolve the lie,
Let pride and pain both calcify.
Then stir with truth, distilled and pure—
An essence timeless shall endure.

Not for glory, not for gain,
But to rise, reborn through pain.
The alchemist within must see:
The soul refines its own decree.

So let the fire consume control,
And forge the golden of the soul.
Not found in stone, nor bought or sold—
But earned in silence, soft and bold.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie

  1. This is a powerful poem about inner transformation through suffering. It beautifully reframes pain not as a curse, but as the necessary fire of a spiritual alchemist. The “gold” isn’t an external reward but the refined self—forged when our “lesser” desires and fears are burned away. The final message is one of profound strength: that our true, enduring essence is “earned in silence,” through the brave, quiet work of facing our own darkness.
