Poem: Ascend

Beneath the weight of shadowed skies,
Where silence clings and hope runs dry,
A whisper stirs within the dust—
A promise not yet turned to rust.

One foot, then two, the climb begins,
Through thorn and doubt, through past regrets’ sins.
The rocks may cut, the winds may jeer,
But still, the soul has learned not fear.

Each breath a prayer, each step a fight,
Against the dark, toward unseen light.
No wings bestowed, no path made clear—
Just grit, and grace, and rising near.

The summit hides behind the cloud,
But dreams speak loud, and hearts unbowed.
And so you rise, not born to bend—
The climb is long, but still… ascend.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie

  1. A powerful and beautifully crafted anthem of perseverance. This poem truly captures the essence of resilience—the “grit, and grace” required to rise against all odds. A stirring and magnificent read.
