Poem: Lift Your Soul

When shadows press and silence grows,
And life feels heavy, weighted, slow,
Look not to ground, but skyward high—
There’s light beyond the weeping sky.

Let morning break upon your mind,
With hope the darkness could not bind.
The smallest spark, the softest flame,
Can still ignite a mighty name.

You are not dust nor drifting breeze,
But mountain strong and ocean deep.
Your heart, a drum of steady beat,
Will rise again on steady feet.

So when the world would have you crawl,
Stand tall—be louder than your fall.
The stars are not too far to reach,
And joy is something you can teach.

Lift your soul—don’t wait, don’t fear.
Your voice, your light, are needed here.
For every wound and broken role,
There lies a path to lift your soul.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie

  1. This is a powerful and beautifully crafted poem of resilience and self-affirmation. It moves from acknowledging the “heavy, weighted” feeling of despair to a commanding call to rise above it.

The poem’s strength lies in its contrasting imagery—shadows versus light, crawling versus standing tall, dust versus mountains—effectively portraying the internal battle against darkness. It rejects insignificance (“not dust nor drifting breeze”) and affirms immense inner strength (“mountain strong and ocean deep”).

Ultimately, it’s a reminder that our “voice” and “light” are not just for ourselves but are vital contributions to the world, making the message both personal and universally significant. The final line offers a perfect, hopeful resolution: for every broken part of us, “There lies a path to lift your soul.”
