Poem: Human Evaluation

Human Evaluation

We weigh the heart in numbers,
Measure courage, wit, and skill,
Stack the hours of effort,
Balance dreams against the bill.

A glance, a nod, a passing grade,
Yet souls are not so neatly made.
For in the quiet, hidden space,
Resides the depth no test can trace.

We rate the work, we mark the deed,
Yet fail to see the subtle seed:
A whispered hope, a gentle touch,
The kindness that is valued much.

Metrics cold may chart the climb,
But never map the pulse of time.
Human evaluation, though precise,
Cannot contain the heart’s own spice.

So let us judge, but softly so,
For life is more than what we show.
Numbers fade, and grades may fall,
But love, and courage, outshine them all.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie
