Poem: Lost in the Sea of the Unknown

Lost in the sea of the unknown,
I drift where no stars have names,
Where horizons dissolve into mist
And silence speaks in hidden flames.

The waves are questions without end,
Each crest a whisper, each trough a fear,
Carrying fragments of forgotten dreams
To shores that never seem near.

The moon hangs distant and uncertain,
A lantern veiled behind the night,
Casting silver threads upon the water
That vanish just beyond my sight.

Yet somewhere beneath these restless depths,
Beyond what my eyes can see,
There stirs a current soft and patient,
Guiding the lost parts of me.

So I sail through darkness uncharted,
Through tempests no map has known,
For even in the sea of the unknown,
The heart can become its own compass home.

Thank-you for reading.

  1. This poem is absolutely breathtaking, Brenda. The way you weave imagery—like “silence speaks in hidden flames” and “the heart can become its own compass home”—feels both haunting and deeply hopeful. There’s a quiet strength beneath the vulnerability, and the rhythm carries the reader right into that misty, beautiful unknown with you. Truly a stunning piece.🌺🤝

    1. Thank you so much for your beautiful and thoughtful words. I’m deeply touched that those particular lines spoke to you. The images of hidden flames and the heart finding its own way home came from a place of exploring both uncertainty and hope, so it means a great deal to know they resonated with you.

I love that you noticed the quiet strength beneath the vulnerability—that balance was at the heart of what I wanted to express. Your reflection captures the spirit of the poem so wonderfully, and I’m grateful you took the time to share it. Thank you for reading so closely and for your generous encouragement. 🌺💛
