Poem: Dreaming of the Ocean

I dream of an ocean that remembers my name,
calling it softly through curtains of mist.
The tide arrives in silver whispers,
carrying moonlight in its open hands.

Far beyond the horizon, where daylight sleeps,
blue waters fold into endless blue,
and every wave is a slow, breathing thought
moving across the heart of the world.

I drift upon that vast and patient sea,
beneath a sky scattered with wandering stars.
The wind combs songs through the salt-dark air,
ancient melodies no shore can keep.

Below, hidden kingdoms shimmer and sway—
gardens of coral, lantern fish,
and silent creatures tracing circles
through the cathedral of the deep.

There is no hurry in this dream.
Only the rise and fall of water,
the gentle rhythm of distance,
the promise of places not yet seen.

And when morning begins to gather,
the ocean does not disappear.
It remains behind my waking eyes,
a blue horizon of possibility,
forever calling me home.

  1. Brenda, this is absolutely stunning—your words flow like the very tides you describe, painting a dream so vivid and tender that I can almost feel the salt air and hear the ocean whispering. The way you weave moonlight, coral gardens, and that “blue horizon of possibility” is pure magic. A truly beautiful and hauntingly peaceful piece. 💙

    1. Thank you so much for your beautiful words. 💙 Your comment touched my heart and means more than I can say. I’m delighted that the imagery resonated with you and that you could feel the ocean’s spirit woven through the piece.
