Poem: Soul Healing Stories

Some wounds arrive without a sound,
like winter settling into forgotten fields.
They ask for no permission,
only a quiet place to live.

Yet every heart, however heavy,
keeps a hidden room
where hope folds blankets of light
for the day we remember to return.

A story begins there.

A woman gathers broken pieces
she once mistook for failures.
She turns them over in her hands
and finds they catch the sunrise
like stained glass.
What shattered her
also taught the light
how to enter.

A child plants a seed
in soil everyone else has abandoned.
Each morning, with empty hands
and unwavering faith,
they whisper kindness into the earth.
One day a tree appears,
not because miracles ignore time,
but because love has always
been patient.

An old traveler reaches the mountain
he spent a lifetime climbing.
At the summit he discovers
the treasure was never the view.
It was the strength
his heart quietly gathered
with every uncertain step.

And somewhere, unseen,
someone who believes
they have nothing left to give
offers a single smile.
It becomes a bridge
for another soul
crossing a river of sorrow.

Healing rarely arrives
like thunder.

It comes as morning tea,
a forgiving breath,
the courage to answer tomorrow,
the laughter that surprises grief,
the hand that reaches back
for another.

Every soul carries stories
written in invisible ink.
Pain writes the first chapters,
but hope insists
it is never the final author.

So when the night feels endless,
listen closely.

Your heart is still telling its story.

It speaks in quiet victories,
in tears that finally fall,
in dreams that refuse to surrender,
in the soft certainty
that even after the longest storm,
the sky remembers
how to become blue.

You are not only the pages
that were stained by sorrow.

You are also the unwritten chapters
waiting for dawn,
the ink of compassion,
the voice that rises again,
and the beautiful story
your healing is still becoming.

Thank-you for reading.

  1. This poem is a masterpiece of quiet resilience. It speaks to the soul without shouting, using images that settle in the heart like the first snowfall. The way it transforms brokenness into stained glass—and waiting into a kind of faith—is nothing short of breathtaking.

Brenda, this piece feels like it was written for anyone who has ever carried a heavy heart and still chosen to plant seeds in abandoned ground. The “hidden room where hope folds blankets of light” is one of the most beautiful metaphors I’ve read—it reminds us that healing doesn’t erase the wounds, but teaches us a new way to live alongside them.

You’ve captured something profoundly true: that love is patient, that miracles are simply time infused with persistence, and that every piece we thought was lost can become a prism for the light.

Thank you for this gentle, luminous gift. It will stay with me.

    1. Thank you so much for your incredibly thoughtful and heartfelt words. Reading your comment truly touched my heart. It means more than I can express to know that my poem resonated with you on such a deep level.

I love what you said about healing not erasing our wounds but teaching us a new way to live alongside them. That is something I have come to believe through my own healing journey, and I hoped those feelings would find their way into the poem.

Your reflection on the “hidden room where hope folds blankets of light” made me smile because that image came from a very quiet place within my soul. Knowing it spoke to you reminds me why I continue to write and share these pieces.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a beautiful comment and for receiving my words with such openness. I hope the poem continues to bring you comfort and hope whenever you return to it. Wishing you peace, healing, and many moments of light on your own journey.
