Poem: I Have Suffered Enough

I have suffered enough, let the night now sleep,
Let the wounds I’ve carried no longer weep.
The silence has scorched, the shadows have stayed,
Too long I’ve wandered where joy was afraid.

I’ve knelt before storms with a tear-stained face,
Begged the sky for mercy, and none gave grace.
I’ve broken on words, on looks not returned,
On dreams that withered, on bridges burned.

But still I rose, from ash and stone,
Each breath a vow not to die alone.
Each step was fire, each day a test—
And though bent low, I gave my best.

So hear me now, O world grown cold—
I am not seeking to be consoled.
Just let the sun rise without a debt,
Let me forgive, let me forget.

I have suffered enough. This is my plea:
No more chains, no more decree.
Let peace come down like quiet rain—
To cleanse the sorrow, to soften the pain.

Thank-you for reading.

Much Love and Light,

Brenda Marie
