The Feelings That No One Understands
There’s a silence I carry, it hums in my chest,
A whisper of thoughts that won’t let me rest.
Smiles come easy, like practiced commands—
But buried beneath are the shifting sands.
It’s not quite sorrow, not fully despair,
It’s the ache of being almost there.
Like shouting a name in a dream-clouded land,
And reaching for hands that don’t understand.
Sometimes I’m a storm, but I rain inside,
Tears made of thunder I quietly hide.
I laugh in the daylight, I dance when I must,
But the mirror reflects a version I mistrust.
No words to describe what twists in my mind,
A language of shadows, elusive to find.
I try to explain, I fumble, I fall—
How do you name what has no shape at all?
They say, “You’re not alone, we’ve all been there,”
But what if there is nowhere near here?
What if this feeling, unclaimed and unplanned,
Is a foreign tongue no one understands?
Still, I hold it gently, this ache, this fire,
It makes me more human, it builds something higher.
One day, maybe, someone will see—
Not the mask I wear, but the real, restless me.
